When Shopping for Men's Suits
Men's suits: An ill-fitting suit can be seen from miles away and has a damaging effect on your image. So getting the right fit in a suit and having it tailored is rather important, that is if you have any concern about how you might come across in an interview, to a client or to your peers. The first thing to do, if you haven’t already, is get properly measured (which any reputable retailer can do for you). This includes: neck, shoulders, sleeves, chest, waist and inseam. Once you know your size you are free to hit the dressing rooms. And when you do go shopping for men's suits, keep these six things in mind:
Choosing a Fabric
Let’s get one thing clear, unless you have a closet full of suits and want something different, worsted wools are your best bet for a suit.
These include gabardines or mid-weight corded wools. You will often find suits that say “Super 100” which are very popular these days--all this means is that the yarn has been twisted more often than the usual 60-80 twist wools. Either way they are considered mid-weight. And good fabric will spring back without wrinkling after it's squeezed. Just remember that worsted wools wear well and are typically good year-round depending on where you live.
The Fit of Your Trousers
Make sure that the waistline of your trousers is comfortable and that you can stick two fingers into the waist while you're wearing them. And as far as pleats are concerned, it’s usually a personal preference. However, as a general rule, pleats are better for those with larger tummies and not a good idea for those who are thin. This is because a flat front trousers accentuate your tummy if you have one and pleats help cover it up. And conversely, pleats make a skinny guy look even skinnier, and not in a good way.
The Hem on Your Trouser
Nothing says sloppy more than a pile of fabric at your ankle. Your pants should reach your shoes and have a slight break. Cuffed or uncuffed is your choice, but keep in mind that cuffless makes you look taller if you happen to be a little shorter and cuffs looks better on someone with long legs. Cuffs also appeal to a more mature consumer.
The Length of Your Sleeves
Make sure your sleeve length is right on, otherwise you will look like you borrowed someone else’s suit. If the sleeve covers your shirt cuff, it is too long. It should just reach the base of your thumb, revealing a half inch to an inch of your shirt cuff—very classy.
The Waist of the Jacket
The jacket should fit easily across your stomach. The traditional American cut suit with two buttons, which has been a mainstay for many years, is being replaced by suit jackets which are more fitted and have three and four buttons. However, the classic two-button style remains popular, and some two-button jackets offer a fresh twist with higher button placement similar to the three-button style and is often more flattering. Whether your preferred style is classic or modern, look for fitted waistlines that enhance the shape of your body. Getting a close fit at the waist is, do I dare say it?, a good thing (sorry Martha).
The General Fit of Your Suit
When it is all said and done, you should be able to stretch and bend easily in your suit. Make sure that you that you have free movement of your arms. As a test, bring your arms out straight in front of you, and also try sitting in a chair and pretend you are working. You should always be comfortable.

Q: I wear a 44R jacket, and 34” waist
pants. I looked at your store, and noticed all your 44R jackets come with 38” pants
waist. Can I have 44R jacket with 34” waist pants?
A: No, currently we could not sell jacket pants separate. All the suits in this store come with fixed jacket pants drop. Size 36 to 46 jacket come with 6” drop (e.g. jacket 42, pants waist 36”); Size 48 jacket comes with 5” drop (e.g. jacket 48, pants 43”); Size 50 to 54 come with 4” drop (e.g. jacket 52, pants 48”
Q: Does your store offer alteration/tailoring service?
A: No, we do not offer alteration (e.g. hem pants length, etc) service.
Q: I live near your office. Can I visit your store first before purchase?
A: No. The address in the item listing page is our sales office and only opens for business customers and retailers. Currently we do not have a store open for retail customers.
Q: Can I return the suit I purchased if I am not satisfied with it and how to do it?
A: Yes. The suit must be in its original condition with tags attached. You must notify the seller at mensitaly@yahoo.com and return the suit within 7 days after you receive the suit. When you return, please include the original packing slip and include a note that you would like to return it, and return to our company address in the item description page of the listing. Refund will be made within 7 business days after returned item is received. The Seller is not responsible for any missing or damaged package so we suggest you would use a method that would provide tracking and insurance options (e.g. USPS priority or UPS ground).
Q: Can I exchange for a different size or item if it’s not fit or if I do not like it, and how to do it?
A: Yes. As described in the return question above, the suit must be in its original condition with tags attached + $25 check under our company name. You must notify the seller and return the suit within 7 days after you receive the suit. When you return the package, please include the original packing slip and include a note that you would like to exchange for a different size or item, and return to our company address in the item description page of the listing. Exchange will be made within 7 business days after returned item is received. Again, the Seller is not responsible for any missing or damaged package so we suggest you would use a method that would provide tracking and insurance options (e.g. USPS priority or UPS ground). As a common practice, the Buyer will pay his own shipping charge to send the item back to the Seller; the Seller will send the replacement at the Seller’s expense by UPS ground.
Q: What Is Your Shipping Policy?
A: We do not believe in stuffing expensive garments into mail bags and sending them
out with a stamp. We believe our items are expensive, high quality garments and
deserve to be treated well and shipped with care. This is why we use new boxes and
every items is placed in new 2mil thick ziplock plastic bags to protect it during
it's journey. We send most of our items out by UPS with tracking. If shipping to
a PO box USPS will be used and for some lighter weight items (under $5.95 S&H).
We reserve the right to choose which mailing service we will use. One can expect
to receive your package within 2-7 business days, but it ultimately depends on the
time and day of your payment and on the service of UPS.
All payments must be received before items can be shipped. All items listed are
in stock but occasionally we use drop-shippers. We normally ship packages out every
weekday morning after 12 noon so often your purchase will ship within 12 hours or
less! If you need your package sent out any quicker. Please email us to let us know
and we will do our best to accommodate you. Special request must be made by email,
be very specific and will require a verification from us that we agree. Please do
not make any assumptions about our service we will always respond kindly to all
